Hello, I write about science.
I'm currently a science writer for Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Previously, I was a Digital Science Writer for Smithsonian magazine, where I specialize in environmental, biological and medical topics. Before that, I reported on those topics at Science magazine, and I wrote about on nuclear energy policy and other science and political issues for Environment & Energy Publishing.
I'm a native of Richmond, Virginia, where I graduated in 2014 from the University of Richmond. There I worked in university communications and served as an editor on my campus newspaper and magazine.
I serve on the board of the D.C. Science Writers Association, and am a member of the National Association of Science Writers and the National Press Club. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exploring, meditation, and listening to podcasts.
